About Watford Fringe Festival
Entertaining audiences for more than eight years
The Watford Fringe Festival first started in 2016 as a way to support great local talent to develop and perform their shows and to bring high quality performing arts to local audiences to enjoy. It has grown and grown over this time, even temporarily going online during the pandemic lockdown. Every year, venues across Watford host an extraordinary live line-up of great theatre, music, comedy, dance, magic and family fun-filled shows.
2024 was our biggest yet and we welcomed nearly 4,500 audience members across 120 performances. We had everything from pre-Edinburgh shows and returning favourites, to local talent, special youth performances, award-winning acts and premieres of new material. Whether you were looking for opera or drag, belly laughs or emotional drama, we had a show for you.
2025 will be our 9th Watford Fringe and the second in our new July month long format. Watch this space for more news about the line-up but in the meantime why not sign yourself up as a host venue or a volunteer – it’s a great way to get more involved in the Watford arts community.
The Fringe is only possible thanks to the support of Watford Borough Council, all our Fringe venues and the dozens of volunteers who give up their time to promote the shows and make sure our audiences were so well looked after.
